About the network and The Backbone
The Emerging Leaders National Network is the backbone behind city chapters doing community violence intervention. Chapters lead locally. The network coordinates nationally.
Three layers
The network
The national backbone: qualification, training and coordination, toolkits, the platform, and funder access.
The chapters
One chapter per city, each with its own identity and leadership, organized in four regions.
The Build Peace Framework
The service strategy and common language chapters carry out.
What the backbone does
The backbone holds the standards and the infrastructure so chapters can focus on the work in their cities.
Qualification
Reviews each Power Map, supports the panel or webinar, and records the determination: Qualified, Conditional, or Not Yet Qualified.
Training and coordination
Trains chapters to use the platform and to organize with it, and coordinates engagement across chapters and regions.
Toolkits
Provides the starter toolkit for organizations starting a chapter and the joiner toolkit for members, with templates and moderation questions.
Platform
Runs the shared system behind applications, the partner directory, referrals and their outcomes, and impact reporting.
Funder access
Connects funders to qualified chapters through one entry point and one view of the field.
Learning
Captures what works in one chapter, starting with Detroit, so it can be taught to the next.
Cities United
The network is incubated with Cities United, which serves as its fiduciary.
